Shut up already

Fri Dec 2, 2005, 5:10 PM
I'm rarely around DA anymore, in part because I don't have much to submit lately. School is taking up a lot of my time and there's little left for personal work. But when I do stop by to see what's new, I'm completely STRUCK by how idiotic each description is for the Daily Deviations. Christ, whoever writes those just screams "I'm trying desperately to sound like I'm both smart and know what I'm talking about." They are failing miserably. That's for sure.

haha Glad I have some support. I just go nuts reading that garbage.

feel you.
deviantart is probably not the best for good critiques,
as i understand this place, it's more about the "first impression": "i like it - i say NICE! COOL!"; "i don't like it - i say nothing"
:icondaliaamara:
That's why I don't bother to read the descriptions anymore. They're usually something along the lines of "I was like sitting at the computer scratching my fat ass when I saw this deviation and thought geeeeeee that's cool!"
:iconmarshmallowsyay:
yeah i have noticed that recently as well. While some are trying to sound smart, others are trying to be funny, and failing miserably

So we can conclude only that they are failing. haha
:iconsmellkid:
Or something like "Wow, I've never been to art school and definitely never been to design school but I've heard some words that desigerns have used before so here they are in a string. Does that sound cool?"
:iconsmellkid:
For the moderators, it's more about trying to sound like they went to design school. But whenever they write something, it's evident that they either were nowhere near design school or they slept through it. And, yeah, it's all about "Wow, that looks really neat!" and not like "Jesus, where is the focal point? Your type selection is horrid. This composition is terrible unbalanced. Your elements are meaningless and you have no idea what the term 'abstract' really means, do you?"

It should be more like that.
:iconmarshmallowsyay:
pretty much ^_^
